UUA President Issues Statement in Response to Storms in the Southeast

The Rev. Peter Morales, President of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), issued the following statement on April 28 on the storms in the Southeast:
My heart goes out to all those facing adversity in the aftermath of the tornadoes in Mississippi, Georgia, and especially Tuscaloosa, Ala. I can only imagine the burden faced by our brothers and sisters as they cope with losses of home, livelihood, and even life.
On behalf of the entire staff of the UUA, I am especially concerned for those Unitarian Universalist families whose homes were destroyed in this terrible tragedy. We carry them in our hearts, mindful of the fragility of our own existence and of the interconnectedness of all life.
While no words can compensate for their loss, I take solace in the resilience of the human spirit, the strength provided by our faith, and the generosity of those who find themselves able to help.
In the Unitarian Universalist tradition of putting spiritual belief into action, the UUA's Mid-South District is gratefully accepting donations for UU families affected by this disaster. Anyone wishing to help may do so via the following website starting at 8 a.m. EDT on Friday, April 29:MSDUUA.org.
In faith,
Rev. Peter Morales
President, Unitarian Universalist Association
